Boy Scouts help Haiti

Jan. 12 marked the one-year anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, and The Resource Center and the Boy Scouts recently sent financial assistance to aid children impacted by the disaster. TRC and the Boy Scouts presented a check for $2,081.39 to Christian Service International to support children with disabilities in Haiti who were impacted by the quake. The amount represents the proceeds from a rummage sale hosted by TRC and the Cougars, a Scout troop composed of individuals with developmental disabilities who receive supports from The Resource Center. "This money is probably enough to cover a mobile medical unit to treat and provide medicine to about 600 people," said Roberta Anderson of Christian Service International, who with her husband, Bertel, delivered the proceeds to Haiti. "This money could also almost cover two teachers' salaries for a whole year at the school in Galette."
