Notice that the
first step in any emergency is to call 911. If you are alone, that is critical. If you are with a group, designate an individual to call (YOU, call 9-1-1), not the entire group - numerous studies have shown that groups will not act, individuals act to intervene.
From
Hands-only CPR:
What is Hands-OnlyTM CPR?
Hands-OnlyTM CPR is CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see an adult suddenly collapse in the “out-of-hospital” setting (like at home, at work, in a park). It consists of two steps:
- 1) Call 911 (or send someone to do that).
- 2) Begin providing high-quality chest compressions by pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest with minimal interruptions.
Who should receive Hands-OnlyTM CPR?
Hands-OnlyTM CPR is recommended for use on teens or adults (anyone over the age of 8) whom you witness suddenly collapse.
There is a LOT more great information at the
Hands-OnlyTM CPR site, please go there, with your family, and check it out. You MAY be a hero as a result.
