Meeting started 7:05 pm at First Alliance Church.
Members in attendance: Colleen Chamberlain, Phillip Lucas, Doug Moon, Marilyn Moon and Donna Matuch. Scouts were Evan Lucas and CJ Beaman.
Financial: No major changes from prior month. Balance is approximately $7,457. More emphasis will be made towards payment of dues.
December Old Business:
- No January campouts are scheduled. Klondike is February 3-5. Tentative arrangements with Troop 746 (with a cabin) are being negoiated. Costs $5 plus food. Adults may be needed. Committments are due January 16. Attendance at a planning meeting with 746 on January 23 is necessary.
- Lynne and Wayne Ryan (Soil Inc) will be ordering and purchasing the new sweatshirts for the Troop.
- Spring campout is April 27-29 at Moraine. Phillip may be available for one of the adult leaders.
- Six Weblos will cross over in February from the Pack.
- Order of Arrow elections begin February 1 - March 31 for scouts. Adults are due April 2. OA Rep will need to get date for troop elections.
After-action:
- St. Vitus: many compliments on scouts and job well done. May be done quarterly to fulfill service time.
- Caroling: good turn-out, went well
- Lazer tag: only two scouts, not considered a "scouting" event.
- Bowling: good turnout with scouts, family and friends.
- SPL Evan reviewed the schedule for the next meetings. Chess merit badge, winter survival, lashing project. Senior Patrol Leader meeting to be held on January 30 during regular meeting.
- No website updates.
New business:
- Small scale summer trip (Friday-Monday) could be planned tentatively for late July or August depending on scout and adult participation. (Ideas: Erie, Putt in Bay, canoe trip)
- Troop 721 (Wilmington) Spaghetti dinner on Saturday, February 11 and and Dean's invitation to go swimming on Sunday, February 12 (dates need to be confirmed).
- Court of Honor on February 13 will be a pot luck meal. MC is Zachary Matuch, guest speaker is CJ Beaman.
- Hikes will be planned for the late winter/early spring. (Ideas: North Country Trails, PA Wilds, Cook Forest) Backpacking (Minister Creek).
- Spaghetti dinner scheduled for Saturday, February 25 may need to be resheduled to late March to include new cross over scouts.
Notes:
Parents not joining away trips will need to stay with the group until it leaves to ensure a smooth departure.
Scouts will soon be repsonsible for co-ordinating the future events. Colleen will create a template to simplify the job.
Committee will re-visit discussion on parental participation.
